An electric power steering device is provided with: a worm shaft having a first end portion and a second end portion; a worm wheel which meshes with the worm shaft and is connected to a steering mechanism; a connector which connects the first end portion and the output shaft of an electric motor so that torque can be transmitted; and an impelling member which elastically impels the second end portion in a direction which reduces the centre-to-centre distance between the worm shaft and the worm wheel. The first end portion comprises: a first cylindrical portion; a diametrical-expansion permitting portion formed on the first cylindrical portion and for permitting the diametrical expansion of the first cylindrical portion; and male teeth portions formed on the outer periphery of the first cylindrical portion. The connector comprises: a second cylindrical portion integrally rotatable with the output shaft; and female teeth portions formed on the inner periphery of the second cylindrical portion and capable of meshing with the male teeth portions. The electric power steering device is further provided with a diametrical expansion member which is disposed inside the first cylindrical portion, and which presses the male teeth portions into the female teeth portions by diametrically expanding a section of the axial direction of the first cylindrical portion. |
