The invention relates to a cell reactor for treating and examining cell cultures and for continuously supplying different cells, wherein the cell reactor enables the selective removal and analysis of cells from defined positions within natural or artificial 3-D structures without destroying the cell culture carrier. The cell reactor (6, 6', 6'', 6a) according to the invention is designed with a) an upper part (9, 9', 9'') and a lower part (10, 10', 10''), b) a layer system (1, 1') having at least one cell culture carrier, which is designed as a layer (3) and which is permeable, a positioning device, a layer holder (4, 4') for the layer (3), and a fixing ring (2, 2'), and c) a closing mechanism having a detachable connection between the upper part (9, 9', 9'') and the lower part (10, 10', 10'').
