In an arrangement for maintaining oscillations of a beater comb 1 in a textile machine, the comb 1 is formed integrally with a tubular shaft 2, one end of which is journalled in a bearing 3 whilst the other end is integral with a coupling 4 fixed on the shaft 5 of a single-phase or two-phase asynchronous electric motor 6 whose rotor is of squirrel cage form, and a torsion bar 8, coaxially mounted within the shaft 2, urges the shaft 2 and comb 1 resiliently into a median angular position. The torsion bar 8 has one end secured to the coupling 4 and the other end fixed to a plate 9 forming part of the bearing 3. On energization of the starter, the rotor is caused to vibrate, and its oscillations in opposite directions are resisted by the torsion bar 8. The frequency of oscillation is a function of the moment of inertia of the system and of the characteristics of the torsion bar. 1, 005, 154. Fire-proofing. AMERICAN CYAMID CO. Aug. 19, 1964 [Sept.11, 1963], No. 33801/64. Heading D1P [Also in Division C2]. Compounds suitable for use as flame-proofing agents are monocarbamoyl-substituted tertiary organic phosphines and phosphine oxides of the formula wherein R 1 and R 2 each represent a substituted or unsubstituted, branched or straight chain alkyl radical having from 1 to 18 carbon atoms, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl radical or a substituted or unsubstituted cycloalkyl radical and n is 0 or 1. (see Division C2). For example, cotton cloth may be immersed in a suitable solution containing from 0.5% to 10% of one of the above compounds, and the cloth subsequently dried.
