PURPOSE: A blue phase mode liquid crystal display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to increase a response speed and reduce a driving voltage. CONSTITUTION: A pixel electrode(114) is connected to a thin film transistor. The pixel electrode generates a horizontal electric field with a common electrode in a pixel area. The pixel electrode is formed on a second protrusion. A second substrate(101) faces a first substrate. A blue phase mode liquid crystal layer(130) is placed between the first and second substrates.
