[Also in Division E2] A double clutch arrangement for vehicle window winding mechanisms which are alternatively power and hand-operated, comprises a power-driven wheel 10 which is clutchable to a sleeve 12, driving the window-winding mechanism, by means of clutching balls 16 which are housed in radial bores 14 of the sleeve 12 and are projected into engagement with the wheel 10 by a pin 20. The window may be operated manually by a handle 35 having a polygonal shank 32 which is inserted in a correspondingly shaped bore of the sleeve 12 and is retained axially by pins 36 mounted in radial bores of the sleeve and urged inwardly by a spring 38 to engage a groove 40 of the shank 32. The handle shank engages the end of the pin 20 when it is inserted in the sleeve and shifts the pin against the bias of a spring 22 to register a groove 24 with the balls 16 to disengage the wheel 10 from the output sleeve 12. The end of the handle spindle has a projection 28 entering a bore of the pin 20, and the projection may be shaped so as to form a screwdriver which may be used when the handle is removed from the mechanism.</p> |
