A circuit for firing an initiating element of a detonator, the circuit including an integrated circuit controller which operates at a first voltage, an energy storage device, and a switch, at least under the control of the controller, is operable to allow a test current to pass through the initiating element and, thereafter, is operable to pass a firing current through the initiating element, and wherein the firing current is produced by the energy storage device which is operated at a second voltage which is greater than the first voltage. |
