The antenna (14) has electro acoustic and/or opto acoustic converters and/or converter arrangements arranged adjacent to each other in distances. The converters and/or converter arrangements send and/or receive sound waves, and form antenna segments. The segments are attached at a boat body of a watercraft such that an extension of the antenna extends around a bow from a stern section of the watercraft upto the bow along a side of the watercraft and upto the stern section on another side of the watercraft based on dimensions of the watercraft. An independent claim is also included for a method for locating, localizing and/or classifying a sound-emitting target by an acoustic underwater antenna.
