The invention relates to a process for producing a linear insert, in particular a reinforcing insert (1), for a linear seal (2), in particular for sealing doors, flaps and windows on vehicle bodies, wherein the insert (1) has regularly recurrent cross-sectional variations (23) in the longitudinal direction of the linear seal. According to the invention, a material flow which forms the linear reinforcing insert is fed to a shaping device (3) which shapes the material to form, or with respect to the formation of, the cross-sectional variations and has at least one shaping element (16) which, during shaping, moves along with the shaped material in the longitudinal direction of the linear seal and is moved back into a starting position for shaping on a path remote from the material. |
