Temperature independent control of a thermostatically controlled cooling and/or heating appliance comprising periodically temperature independently deactivating and reactivating the cooling and/or heating appliance 10 whilst the appliance 10 is ordinarily energised during a standard duty cycle. The deactivation period of the appliance 10 is controlled by a timer element 42, the deactivation period being automatically adjustable based on a deactivation-period profile and at least two said deactivation periods are included in the deactivation-period profile. Another invention relates to an override element 46 which automatically reactivates the appliance 10 independently of the timer element 42 during the deactivation period. |
