PURPOSE: An inter prediction method and an apparatus thereof are provided to increase image encoding/decoding efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A movement predicting unit(111) extracts reference movement information about an encoding target unit within a current picture. A movement correcting unit(112) performs movement correction of the encoding target unit through the extracted reference movement information. The reference movement information is movement information which is included in a reference picture.
