An antibacterial or anti-acne formulation suitable for topical application to human skin containing (a) usnic acid or an usnate and; (b) a metal salt selected from copper salts, bismuth salts, and mixtures thereof, Wherein if the component (a) is an usnate, the components (a) and (b) are not the same compound. Also discloses is a kit for making the formulation; its use in the treatment of conditions caused by, transmitted by and/or exacerbated by bacterial activity; it use for non-therapeutic skin-care and a method for controlling bacterial growth on a non-living surface. |
