A valve, particularly for a compressor, has a closure member 6 with at least two rigid zones A flexibly interconnected by intermediate zones B, the zones A being loaded by closing forces of different amounts. The member 6 is guided by a washer 5 between the seat 1 and a guard 2 in which loading springs 7 are located, the guard and seat being connected together by a nut 4 and a bolt 3. Oblique slots 12 make the intermediate zones B flexible and these zones may, alternatively, extend chordwise across the closure member or be arranged parallel to the edges of a square member. In a further construction, the closure member is circular and has a spirally shaped flexible centre which is clamped between two washers, spring loading being provided by circumferentially arranged fingers on a spring plate mounted between the closure member and its seat.</p> |
