The invention relates to a method and a device for assessing through-wall leakage and combustion problems of a heating wall of a coke oven (20) by measuring gas components and dust of combustion waste gases exiting the heating walls (Wall 20, Wall 21) of the coke oven, wherein components of combustion waste gases are measured simultaneously from both heating walls of a coke oven. The device for measuring the components of the waste gases is a self contained unit with measuring devices in a temperature regulated closable housing.
