PURPOSE: A channel scanning method and an apparatus thereof are provided to scan a channel in consideration of a broadcasting service form and to automatically search for a channel. CONSTITUTION: A memory(115) stores broadcasting information. A location information device(119) outputs location information. A scan setting unit extracts a broadcasting region from the memory. A scan setting unit performs a control operation in order to start a channel searching operation about an extracted broadcasting region. A tuning unit(101) searches for a channel under control of the scan setting unit.
