The acoustic louvre 10 comprises a body 12 defining major upper 22 and lower 24 surfaces and minor side surfaces 20, the body including a support element 38, sound energy absorption element 40, and a flexible watertight element 50, wherein the absorption element is supported by the support element and encased by the watertight element, and the watertight-encased absorption element is accessible from the upper and lower surfaces of the body. The watertight element may comprise a single or double skinned membrane 52 formed from rubber, silicon or plastics vacuum or pressure formed onto the absorption element. The absorption element may be split into two parts 42,44, separated by a baffle 46. The support element may include perforated plates 16,18 and end caps that are engageable with the perforated plates. The louvre may be used to dampen sounds emanating from exterior fan units. |
