A self-centring container holder has a passageway 18 for receiving a tube type container 19 to be filled and crimped, a series of circumferentially spaced slots 28 in the sides of the holder and a spring 67 for pivotally mounting a jaw member 30 in each slot, the lower ends 48 of the jaw members normally projecting into the passageway to prevent the container from moving further than the position shown in Fig. 4 but being forced outwardly when the container is pressed further into the passageway, thereby causing the upper ends of the jaw members to be pivoted through said slots into the passageway to contact the sides of the tube, as in Fig. 5. The upper and lower ends of the inner surface of each jaw member project forward from the remainder of the surface 37 which is concave and acts as a camming surface for the container. Lateral flanges are provided on the jaw member to prevent them projecting too far into the passageway. |
