In the production of chip board by not pressing wood shavings which have been sprayed with an aqueous solution of resin and the water evaporated, the chip board is planed while still hot and the shavings recycled to the process. Poorer and better quality shavings may be fed in separate streams to form inner and outer layers respectively of the chip board, the planed shavings being recycled via a centrifugal separator to the better quality stream. After planing, the board may be cooled and then ground. A phenolic or melamine resin may be employed. Specification 902,519 is referred to. |
