The battery pack has a cell arrangement with multiple individual cells (3) which are arranged next to each other in a perpendicular manner for forming a cell container with a predetermined total number of cells. The cell arrangement of a cell container has a core cell which lies within a group of neighboring cells. The intersections of the cell axes of all the neighboring cells lie on a closed, elliptical curve with a reference plane. The number of neighboring cells amounts to more than one third of the total number of the cells of the cell container.
