A wiper motor (90) has an output shaft (12) that outputs a to-and-fro rotation to swing a wiper (200) pivotally. A transmission mechanism (94) transmits the rotational force from the motor body (92). A clutch mechanism (10) lets the transmission mechanism (94) run idle not to transmit the rotational force from the transmission mechanism (94) to the output shaft (12) when the output shaft (12) is subjected to a torque larger than an engagement releasing torque. The engagement releasing torque is specified to a value larger than a maximum wiping torque to which the torque applied by the wiper (200) onto the output shaft (12) is estimated to reach during a normal wiping operation of the wiper (200).
|
