PURPOSE: A return device and a printer are provided to avoid an operation mode inappropriately set by automatically setting an appropriate operation mode. CONSTITUTION: A return device comprises a first paper feeder(107), a second paper feeder(108), and a controller. The first paper feeder supports a sheet to be rotated and supplies a roll sheet to a returning path. The second paper feeder supplies cut sheet to the returning path. The controller decides whether the sheet supplied to the returning path is the roll sheet or cut sheet based on a relation movement of the sheet supplied to the returning pathe and rotation of the roll sheet. |
