A method and an apparatus for driving a liquid crystal display device are provided to improve image quality by minimizing a vertical dim by changing the charging sequence of odd and even numbered pixel columns every frame. An apparatus for driving a liquid crystal display device includes an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) panel(110), a gate driver, plural data ICs(140), and a timing controller(122). The LCD panel has plural data lines and plural gate lines. The LCD panel includes an image display unit, which includes odd-numbered pixel columns and even-numbered pixel columns. The odd-numbered pixel columns are connected to first sides of the respective data lines. The even-numbered pixel columns are connected to second sides of the respective data lines. The gate driver supplies gate pulses to the gate lines so that the charging sequence of the data voltage for the odd-numbered and even-numbered pixels is changed every frame. The data ICs supply the data voltage to the data lines correspondingly to the charging sequence of the data voltage. The timing controller rearranges source data from the outside correspondingly to the charging sequence and controls the respective data ICs and the gate driver. |
