A method for determination of wear of cutter instrument in the process of mechanical processing of materials with turning that includes implementation of operation of turning with simultaneous determination of characteristics by which one makes a conclusion on wear of cutter instrument, and as such characteristics one registers emission of signals of acoustic emission, and wear of cutter instrument is determined by dispersion of averaged energy of registered resulting signal of acoustic emission.
