A display device is provided to improve the color reproducibility, by adjusting the color saturation ratio of red, green, and blue lights generated from light emitting diodes, in inverse proportion to the area ratio of red, light, and green color filters within a unit pixel, when white light is generated. A display device(700) comprises a display panel(600) and a light generating unit(200). The display panel includes a first substrate(610) having switching elements, a second substrate(620) having first, second, and third color filters formed within unit pixels in a predetermined area ratio, and a liquid crystal layer(630) interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The light generating unit generates first, second, and third lights having the color saturation ratio inversely proportional to the area ratio, realize white light through mixing of the first, second, and third lights, and supplies the white light to the display panel. |
