A dish washer and a method of controlling the same are provided to improve the washing and rinsing performance of the upper and lower racks by controlling the other nozzle except the nozzle selected by a user during a predetermined period when the half load function is selected. A method of controlling a dish washer is composed of: a step of selecting a course and an option desired by a user; a step of operating the stroke according to the selected course and option and judging whether the half load function is selected or not; and a step of driving the nozzle selected by the user if the half load function is selected and controlling the nozzle to allow the other nozzle except the selected nozzle to be driven for a predetermined period. The step of controlling nozzle contains a step of driving the upper nozzle if the user selects the upper nozzle and driving the lower nozzle for a predetermined period, and a step of driving the lower nozzle if the lower nozzle is selected, and driving the upper nozzle for a predetermined period. |
