PURPOSE: A pulmonary embolism detecting system and method are provided to multiply the detection sensitivity of pulmonary embolism while reducing the detection of affirmation-errors. CONSTITUTION: A lung segmentation unit(100) partitions a lung area from a computer tomography image. The lung segmentation unit comprises a critical segmentation module(110), an area expanding module(120), and a distortion complementary module(130). A candidate extracting unit(200) extracts pulmonary embolism candidates in the partitioned lung area. A characteristic detecting unit(300) extracts characteristics of the candidates extracted through the candidate extracting unit. An affirmation-error elimination unit(400) eliminates affirmation-errors by using the characteristics of the candidates extracted through the candidate extracting unit. |
