The arrangement has a support (22) for a laser rangefinder, where the support is centered on a longitudinal axis (L) of a chassis (20). Two transverse test cards (26, 28) are arranged at equal distances (d) to transverse hubs (30, 32) of an axle (12), where the test cards are designed to enable control of the centering and perpendicularity of the axle such that the axle is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis and centered on the longitudinal axis of the chassis when the laser rangefinder indicates that distances (D, D') to the test cards are equal. An independent claim is also included for a method for adjusting centering and perpendicularity of an axle of a trailer relative to a longitudinal axis of a chassis.
