发明名称 Improvements relating to stationery trimming devices
摘要
977,187. Cutting apparatus. UARCO Inc. July 18, 1963 [July 19, 1962], No. 28485/63. Heading B4B. A trimming mechanism for removing marginal material 34, Fig. 2, from stationery 30 comprises a trim unit 28 which is mounted on a mounting shaft 26 and has a pin-wheel 44, Fig. 7, mounted on one of a pair of driven shafts 24, 24a, a first cutting disc 54a mounted coaxial with the pin-wheel and co-operating with a second cutting disc 54 mounted on the other driven shaft, and interconnecting means coupling the driven shafts with the discs to ensure rotation of the discs with the shafts but to permit movement of the discs in the direction of the lengths of the shafts. The shafts 24, 24a are rotated by gearing from a pulley 16 rotated by a belt 18 driven by a motor 14 and have a hexagonal exterior configuration slidably engaged by sleeves 44a, 58 whereby rotation is transmitted to the pin-wheel and cutting discs while permitting movement longitudinally of the shafts. The sleeves are rotatably mounted in bearings in the unit 28 which is slidable along the mounting shaft 26 and can be secured in adjusted position by a clamping screw 122. A similar unit 28a, Fig. 2, is also mounted on the shaft for trimming the opposite margin 34a of the stationery. Each unit has a pin-wheel 44 integral with a sleeve 44a and provided with radially-extending pins 46 for engaging perforations 32 in the marginal portions to be trimmed from the stationery along lines 33, 33a. The first cutting disc 54a is secured to a sleeve 80 which is urged by springs 87 away from the pin-wheel into a position engaging the second cutting disc 54 which is secured to a member 57 non-rotatable but axially movable on the sleeve 58. The axial position of the member 57 on the sleeve 58 can be adjusted by digital operation of a screw 101 engaging a block 102 having a projection provided with a ball bearing 105 engaging an annular groove 106 in the member 57. When the screw is rotated, the disc 54 is moved axially, the first cutting disc following the movement of the disc 54 to vary the position of the cut 33 or 32a relative to the perforations, the movement of the units 28, 28a upon release of the screws 122 varying the distance between the pin-wheels for different widths of paper. A pointer and scale 128 indicate the position of the cutting discs relative to the pinwheel, the scale having a " no-trim " mark to which the pointer can be moved to position the disc 54 at a distance beyond the movement of the disc 54a so that the stationery is not then cut. A perforated belt 50, Fig. 5, is entrained around the pin-wheel 54a and a roller 48 of each unit to support the stationery during trimming, a resilient spring 52 having a slot to clear the pins acting to press the stationery against the pin-wheel and belt. The stationery is guided to the discs over a table 148 and below a roller 144 which is spring-urged against a surface of the pin-wheel but provided with portions spaced a small distance from the pin-wheel to form a gap for the stationery. Additional guides 136, 136a, Fig. 2, are resiliently clamped to the mounting shaft 26 to support the mid-portions of the stationery between the units 28, 28a. A re-wind reel 162 is driven by the pulley 16 for winding the cut-off marginal portions 34. The mechanism has an infeed shelf 156 for the stationery to be trimmed and an outfeeding platform 152 and shelf 154 for receiving the trimmed stationery. A portion 152a of the platform is removable to permit an imprinter mechanism to act on the stationery, the mechanism normally being stored in a compartment 158.
