NEGATIVE ELECTRODE ACTIVE MATERIAL, METHOD OF MANUFACTURING NEGATIVE ELECTRODE, NEGATIVE ELECTRODE, AND SECONDARY BATTERY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode active material for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which provides high capacity, high voltage and excellent cycle characteristic, and a secondary battery using the same.

SOLUTION: The negative electrode active material includes a carbon fiber 1 and a lithium alloy formative substance 2 provided on a surface of the carbon fiber. An aspect ratio as the carbon fiber is 7 or more, and the carbon fiber has a large diameter part and a small diameter part. And a sheet is constituted by the carbon fibers. The lithium alloy formative substance is selected from silicon, silicon alloy and silicon compound.
