<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat-sensitive recording medium that is excellent in the quality of images printed on the heat-sensitive recording surface, particularly, excellent in bar-code readability even if printed on the rear surface (opposite surface of a heat-sensitive recording layer) of the heat-sensitive recording medium while being excellent in printing density, reprinting performance, and printing strength. <P>SOLUTION: The heat-sensitive recording medium has a heat-sensitive recording layer on a support. The heat-sensitive recording medium contains colorless or light-colored electron donative leuco dye and an electron accepting developer. The support contains 5 wt.% or more of mechanical pulp. The sizing-agent processing of the support is adjusted so as to control the drop water absorbency of the surface of the support on which the heat-sensitive recording layer is formed to 50 seconds or longer.
