The present invention relates to a method to produce an isolated nucleic acid molecule selected from the group consisting of: (a) a nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleic acid sequence encoding 5 an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of SEQ ID NO:4 and an amino acid sequence that is at least about 85% identical to SEQ ID NO:4 over the full-length of SEQ ID NO:4, wherein said amino acid sequence has at least one biological activity selected from the group consisting of: p-keto acyl-ACP synthase (KS) 10 activity, chain length factor (CLF) activity, acyl transferase (AT) activity, and enoyl ACP-reductase (ER) activity; (b) a nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleic acid sequence encoding an amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:20; (c) a nucleic acid molecule comprising a nucleic acid sequence encoding 15 an amino acid sequence that is at least about 60% identical to SEQ ID NO:20, and has KS activity; (d) a nucleic acid molecule consisting essentially of a nucleic acid sequence encoding an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of: SEQ ID NO:22, SEQ ID NO:24, SEQ ID NO:26, SEQ ID 20 NO:28, SEQ ID NO:30, and SEQ ID NO:32; and (e) a nucleic acid molecule consisting essentially of a nucleic acid sequence encoding an amino acid sequence that is at least about 60% identical to: (i) SEQ ID NO:22, and has CLF activity; 25 (ii) SEQ ID NO:24, and has AT activity; (iii) SEQ ID NO:26 or SEQ ID NO:32, and has ER activity; or (iv) SEQ ID NO:28 or SEQ ID NO:30, and has FabA-like P-hydroxy acyl-ACP dehydrase (DH) activity. |
