<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which is capable of generating a reduced RAW image with a small memory capacity. <P>SOLUTION: In a first generation unit 110, a RAW image whose each pixel has monochromatic luminance information is subjected to band limitation of spatial frequencies in a horizontal direction, and the number of pixels of the RAW image in the horizontal direction is reduced to generate a horizontally reduced RAW image. Then, the horizontally reduced RAW image is stored in a line memory 105.
