A media gateway and method for detecting High Way (HW) resources thereof are provided by the present invention. The method includes: receiving the test options input by a user, and implementing command parse to obtain a test command; judging and analyzing the test command, and according to the analysis results, connecting the HW resources which need to be tested; testing the connected HW resources according to the analyzed test command, comparing received test data with original test data, and reporting the comparison result for displaying.
