The chopper roller comprises two rolling discs (3) parallely/coaxially arranged on a roller shaft (2), where a knife holder is provided for receiving a knife cassette (5) corresponding to a side surface facing the adjacent rolling disks. The knife holder at each rolling discs is formed as a recess, in which the knife cassette is incorporated with its side walls. An external limitation surface (10) arranged to an external circumference of the rolling disc of the recess overlaps a portion of an upper side of the knife cassette present in the recess. The chopper roller comprises two rolling discs (3) parallely/coaxially arranged on a roller shaft (2), where a knife holder is provided for receiving a knife cassette (5) corresponding to a side surface facing the adjacent rolling discs. The knife holder at each rolling discs is formed as a recess, in which the knife cassette is incorporated with its side walls. An external limitation surface (10) arranged to an external circumference of the rolling disc of the recess overlaps a portion of an upper side of the knife cassette present in the recess. A depth of the recess is less than the thickness of the rolling disc. The external limitation surface of the recess is arranged tangentially to the external circumference of the rolling discs. The recesses are arranged diametrically opposite to the side surface of the rolling disc. A receiving groove for a holding web projecting at the side wall of the knife cassette is recessed within the recess. The receiving groove in its longitudinal extension is tangentially arranged to the external circumference of the rolling discs. A filler element is inserted in the recess of the rolling discs whose weight is measured so that an arrangement of two filler elements in adjacent recesses of the side surfaces facing two adjacent rolling discs of a centrifugal force compensates the knife cassette received at the rolling discs diametrically opposite in an other recess. The thickness of the filler element corresponds to the depth of the recesses side surfaces located at the side surface of the rolling discs. A contour of the filler element protrudes in a state incorporated into the recess not over the external circumference of the rolling discs. The knife cassette is inserted into the recesses corresponding to the side walls of two adjacent rolling discs, and consists of pressing plate and retainer plate that receive a disposable knife in a step-shaped recess and receive a position positively holding a knife carrier.
