<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress quality degradation of generated images even when a processing amount is reduced, in the processing of generating an interpolation object image for interpolation between a first reference image and a second reference image on the time sequence of moving images. <P>SOLUTION: This invention is related to an interpolation image generating apparatus for generating the interpolation object image for the interpolation between the first reference image and the second reference image. The interpolation image generating apparatus includes means for generating one or more candidate vectors to be candidates of a motion vector between the first reference image and the second reference image for each processing unit area of an interpolation image and means for generating a reference vector scaled to a vector to each reference image for each of the generated motion vectors, adjusts the generated reference vector to common pixel position accuracy in common to the respective images constituting the moving images, evaluates and selects the origin candidate vector using the adjusted vector, and generates the image of the processing unit area using the adjusted vector generated from the selected candidate vector. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
