<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical film using a base film having birefringence, which can suppress occurrence of rainbow unevenness due to the birefringence without drastically reducing contrast and image quality. <P>SOLUTION: An optical film according to the present invention includes a base film with a concavo-convex shape formed on at least one surface thereof, and a transparent resin layer formed on the surface. The base film has an in-plane retardation value R of 100 to 2500 nm with respect to light having a wavelength of 590 nm, and an average depth between peak and valley PV of the concavo-convex shape satisfies a relation of the following formula (1) when an average thickness is defined as d.
