<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bookbinding device which can manufacture a high quality booklet stably by detecting a deterioration sign of paste promptly so that the use of deteriorated paste is avoided, and to provide an image forming system. <P>SOLUTION: The bookbinding device is used for bookbinding a booklet by pasting and equipped with a paste applying means which comprises a heating member for melting paste by heat, a paste bath for accommodating the molten paste, and a paste application member which applies the paste in the paste bath to one side edge of a paper bundle. In addition, the device includes a paste deterioration detecting means which detects the deterioration state of the paste in the paste applying means. Furthermore, the device can operate in a forced paste consumption mode so that the paste in the paste applying means can be consumed forcibly according to the result of the detecting deterioration state of the paste in the paste applying means by the use of the paste deterioration detecting means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
