This power generation system is provided with: a fuel cell unit (101) having a fuel cell (11) and a chassis (12); a control device (102); a combustion unit (103) for supplying heat by combusting combustible gas, and positioned outside the chassis (12); and a discharge channel (70) provided so as to connect the fuel cell unit (101) and the combustion unit (103). In the case that one unit, either the fuel cell unit (101) or the combustion unit (103), is discharging exhaust gas into the discharge channel (70) and the discharge flow of exhaust gas from the other unit is changed, then the control device (102) at least controls the flow of exhaust gas discharged from the other unit in a manner such that the flow of exhaust gas discharged from the first unit remains constant.
