<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pipe capable of being smoothly jacked in the ground, and a method for installing the pipe in the ground. <P>SOLUTION: In a quadrangular cross-section pipe 2, a plurality of rotary excavating bodies 46 and 46, which are rotated in such a manner that a center line L of rotation crossing the jacking direction of the pipe 2 serves as the center of rotation, are installed on a leading opening side when the pipe is installed in the ground 10 from a cavity section 100 formed in the ground 10.
