1,065,273. Making tubes. M. BERGHGRACHT. July 9, 1964 [July 18, 1963], No. 28334/64. Heading F2P. A process for the continuous manufacture of boxes comprising a cardboard sheath folded flat around an inner tubular lining the sheath being formed from a cardboard web 5 having longitudinal scored fold lines A, B, C and D corresponding to the edges of the subsequent box, includes the steps of bringing a preformed free inner tube 1 into contact with that zone of the web which is disposed between two longitudinal score lines about which the web is to be folded flat, folding the web into a U-shape along the said two lines, conveying freely the assembly formed by the pre-folded web and the tube, and thereafter folding flat the web along the scored lines and closing the web longitudinally while bearing by the outer face thereof against a support such as rollers 8. The web, which has imparted thereto a preliminary folding by rollers 13, 14 and a guide 12, passes over a roller 10 and is fed together with the tube 1 to a guide 6 and folding rollers 7. The guide 6 may comprise pairs of laterally adjustable plates. The sheath may be formed from one or more single-sidecorrugated cardboard webs and one or more webs of paper. |
