PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pigment dispersion liquid for a color filter and a resin composition for a color filter which can obtain a colored layer having excellent dispersibility and dispersion stability of a metal complex pigment of azo compound and having excellent contrast.

SOLUTION: A pigment dispersion liquid for a color filter contains a pigment, a pigment dispersant, and a solvent. The pigment contains a metal complex pigment of azo compound and the pigment dispersant contains a pigment dispersant represented by the following formula (1).
