<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the deformation of a housing member when forming the housing member. <P>SOLUTION: In a webbing winding device 10, a first recessed portion 44 is provided at the upper side portion of a gear housing 42 and the first recessed portion 44 is opened to a leg plate 16 side. In addition, a second recessed portion 48 is provided at the lower side portion of the gear housing 42 and the second recessed portion 48 is opened to the opposite side to the leg plate 16. When the gear housing 42 is formed with a resin, this structure makes retraction of a bottom wall 44A of the first recessed portion 44 and that of a bottom wall 48A of the second recessed portion 48 act on the gear housing 42 in the direction of canceling each other. Thereby, warping of the bottom wall 44A of the first recessed portion 44 and of the bottom wall 48A of the second recessed portion 48 is suppressed, so that the deformation of the opening of the first recessed portion 44 and that of the second recessed portion 48 can be controlled.
