<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate an appropriate monitor image which does not damage convenience of a super-wide-angle camera and to facilitate retrieval of a desired subject range from a recorded super-wide-angle image. <P>SOLUTION: An image reader is provided with: imaging means for imaging a super-wide-angle image; recording means for recording data of the captured image; detection means for detecting change in the posture of the imaging means; image cutout means for cutting out a part of the captured image; cutout image change means for changing a position or area of the cutout image in accordance with the detection result by the detection means; and display means for displaying the cutout image. Information on the detection result is added to the image data and recorded.
