<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for coloring a carbon fiber, and to provide a colored carbon fiber. <P>SOLUTION: A silane compound containing a pigment is generated in a chamber 042 having a double structure and is brought into contact with a carbon fiber 003 to vapor-deposit the pigment thereon, thereby producing a colored carbon fiber 004. Leaking vapor-phase gas is recovered by an active carbon filter 034 or the like. Since the obtained carbon fiber is rich in color variation so as to be able to impart artistic qualities to many products, it is expected to have a variety of use applications. In particular, coloring of carbon fibers used in a body and wings of a passenger airplane can eliminate a primary coating, and at the same time, can reduce the weight of an airframe. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
