The guard e.g. upper breaking guard (2) and lower breaking guard (3), has a fabric tube arranged at two ends of a side air-bag seam (4) in an inner side of a vehicle seat cover (5) and connected with the cover in a form-fit and/or force-fit manner by an additional seam. The fabric tube is arranged with a longitudinal extent in a transverse direction to a longitudinal extent of the side air-bag seam. The side air bag seam is arranged in a region of a backrest cheek (9) of a vehicle seat (1), so that the side air-bag seam runs vertically along the backrest cheek. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing a breaking guard.
