The method involves directly injecting fuel into a cylinder by an injection valve using fuel-direct injection, and into a suction tube by another injection valve using suction tube injection. Time courses (14, 24) and a splitting factor are selected depending on an operating point of a combustion engine, where the splitting factor represents a division between the fuel-direct injection and the suction tube injection. The time courses corresponding to a sinusoidal signal are determined by a time period (22) that is changed in response to the operating point. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for operating of a combustion engine.
