PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing immunogenic constructs using soluble carbohydrates activated via organic cyanylating reagents.

SOLUTION: The method for producing immunogenic constructs is to form the activated carbohydrate by activating at least a first carbohydrate-containing component with CDAP and directly or indirectly couple the activated carbohydrate to a second component. Preferably, the first component is a polysaccharide and the second component is a protein. The immunogenic construct is produced by directly or indirectly joining the first component to the second component by the method.
