The device (1) has a partial-light transmission layer (2) for displaying numerals and scales. A flat light-conductor (3) is arranged along viewing direction (BL) for illuminating the layer when viewing from behind the layer. A lateral surface (4) is formed in the conductor for linking light that is radiated by an LED (5). The conductor has a circular ring-type form with outer diameter and internal diameter when viewing from top of the layer. A recess is brought into conductor in a circle-portion manner, where conductor comprises a circumferential thickening in a region of the outer diameter. The transmission layer is designed as an instrument dial and a tachometer film.
