The present invention relates to carbon nanofibers. More particularly, the present invention relates to a novel pitch polymer, which is formed by using the properties of carbon nanofibers which vary with the pitch properties, and has the physical properties suitable for use in the preparation of the carbon nanofibers having the desired characteristics; to carbon nanofibers having the desired physical properties by using the novel pitch polymer; and to carbon materials including the carbon nanofibers.
