<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method of an electrophoretic display device and the like capable of clearly displaying fine lines, patterns and shapes while suppressing occurrence of flicker and displaying images with high contrast. <P>SOLUTION: An image rewriting step rewrites an image displayed on a display by the following steps of: applying voltage based on a drive pulse signal repeatedly changing potential between a first potential and a second potential to common electrodes; selectively applying the voltage based on at least one of the first potential, the second potential and the drive pulse signal to each of a plurality of pixel electrodes; and moving electrophoretic particles by an electric field generated between the pixel electrodes and the common electrodes. The image rewriting step sequentially performs the following steps: a first pulse application step S60 using the drive pulse signal, whose pulse width of the first potential is a first width; a second pulse application step S61 using the drive pulse signal, whose pulse width of the first potential is a second width being larger than that of the first width; and a third pulse application step S62 using the drive pulse signal, whose pulse width of the first potential is a third width being smaller than that of the second width. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
