The mouse pad includes a first layer that includes a first luminescent composition and a second layer that includes a second luminescent composition. The first luminescent composition and the second luminescent composition can have different luminescent properties or characteristics. The first luminescent composition and the second luminescent composition can be selected for establishing or providing the mouse pad with a desired, intended, or target set of illumination characteristics. The ratio of the first luminescent composition to the second luminescent composition can also be selected and/or varied to provide the mouse pad with a desired, intended, or target set of illumination characteristics.
